Hunger Games *Spoilers* Rated by Rebekah Walton

Some of you may know from my previous posts that I really dislike the Hunger Games. Now, is the time to go into the reasons why.
There are many reasons why but I think I will only list the best reasons why I dislike this series and rate this series as well tell anyone who does not know what happened in the books.

(Big Spoilers) I recommend if you want to avoid reading the books go to wikipedia and read about the series there, watch a couple parodies on youtube and finish reading this post.

By then you should know enough to be able to speak like you have read the books and really pretend and fool people into thinking you know what you are talking about. First, I will rate these books with (all three) with a D+.

I do not have a clue if Miss Collins wrote any other books but I will assume she did and that they weren't that bad. Anyway on to the stories.

In the first book, we meet a girl named Katniss she is main character in all three stories and it is told from her point of view. (She is one of the reasons these stories get a bad rating. I find her very annoying, a know it all (who really does not know it all) and a totally proud almost haughty girl.)

Katniss has trouble not hating her mother for not being able to really function after Katniss'dad's death, and she hates the cat that her sister Primrose loves. Katniss also can not figure out that the boy whose name is Gale is in love with her. (It was totally obvious to everyone else.)

Katniss decides that she will volunteer for her sister and really that is the only thing so far that anyone can relate to. (Caring about your sister.) Katniss never feels really sorry for Haymitch (a guy who has to deal with kids that lose the Hunger Games every year and die, and so it is perfectly understandable that he is drunk half the time.

Who wants a job like that? Wouldn't everyone else want to forget all that happens as well?). Katniss as we find out seems to hate everyone in Capitol just because they live there. (It is like hating rich people because they are rich or born that way.)

Katniss gets upset because Peeta admits that he loves her twice ( the first time is when he says,''She has no idea the effect she has on people.'') , she even tries to hurt him and ( I am pretty sure)shoves him into a wall because of this. She is really smart at times and then the reader does not understand how everyone was suppose to know that,(example: when she knew that lighting a fire at pitch dark was dangerous and the Careers would be coming after you. She thought how could the girl be that dumb.) and then really dumb when it obvious to everyone else including the reader(Peeta actually likes her and is not faking it, and Gale likes her too.

In the 2nd book, although it was obvious to everyone else, that the girl stabbing the knife in her arm is doing it to save her(keep others from trying to kill her by convincing them that she won't last very long, plus, getting the tractor out of her arm.) she thinks the girl is trying to kill her by stabbing her in the arm when she could have stabbed her in heart if she wanted to do that,).

She also has no clue how to make up her mind. One minute, she wants to run away the next minute, she wants to fight. One minute she likes Gale, another minute she likes Peeta. Make up your mind Katniss! Another reason why I dislike the books is because the all characters I liked in books died off excluding Peeta. Rue, Thresh, Mags and Cinna, not to mention Finick died throughout the series.

I understand if these characters had to die for a purpose, but I see no reason why all of these people had to die. Now, Glumpuddle points out that he thinks in the movie that Katniss and Peeta committing suicide would have been a better ending than the actual ending, and I have to agree. (It would have made more sense and caused a greater rebellion in a shorter amount of time.)

But I am not discussing the movie now. I really also think Collins could have ended this story in the first book and saved all those who died throughout the series. That is yet another reason why I rated these books so low.

When stories go on and on when the author could have made the story shorter and less characters die, I rate it down a notch.

And the last reason but not least is this: I asked a kid why he liked the Hunger Games once and said,''It is like my life.'' I don't know how to express what I really felt at that time. No matter what people say to me about the series good or bad is quote stuck with me. How is it like his life? I mean it makes one think a lot. This is why I hate the series and will forever be Anti-Hunger Games.

Miranda Rated by Rebekah Walton

I gave the book by Grace Livingston Hill an A++. I love this book. This is actually the third book of a trilogy but I haven't read the other two books. I actually didn't know it was a trilogy till my Austenite(Jane Austen) sister told me. It is written so well, you never notice you are reading the third book. It is a story about a girl named MIranda in her early to late 20s by the end of the book, who is quite mischeiveous and who is the caretaker of the house of Mr. and Mrs. David Spalding. They have a young daughter by the name of Rose who MIranda adores. When a rich man gets married to his third wife, one of his sons(Nathan) by his 2nd wife turns to MIranda for comfort, (Well, sorta of, she finds him crying first, then they become friends.) Miranda is reminded of her childhood memories of Nathan's brother Alan who she saved from a horrible death at the age of 17. I will not tell you the rest in hopes you will read this book. It is full of humor, sadness and joy. Also, this book could be considered an historical fiction, so if you need to read a book and give a book report on a historical fiction I suggest reading MIranda. They really should make a movie out of this book. Please read this book.

Why the Shack is NOT A GOOD BOOK to read by Rebekah Walton

I have not personally read The Shack. But in general, I trust Mark Driscoll's opinion concerning whether or not certain books or movies are good to watch. So using the knowledge of what he thinks of the book, I rate this book with a D-. The worst possible rating on books. (I wouldn't trust any other books written by the same author.)If you want to know the reasons why click on the post title. It will take you to Mark Driscoll talking on the book.
But here are the reasons summed up by me:
1. It disobeys the second commandment.
2. It says God the Father is now God the Mother.
3. It says that hierarchy does not exist within the Trinity.

Jesus or the crowds Song by Rebekah Walton

(No tune yet.)
Jesus or the crowds,Jesus or the crowds, crowds, crowds, What will we pick? Jesus! Hopefully, we will pick, Jesus! Yes! THe crowds in other words are money or other worldly things and we should pick Jesus over them. He was perfect they treated Him like a robber and a thief. They hung Him on a cross, that dirty old rudged cross, that piece of wood, they hung the Lord, God of Israel, the Lamb of God, that was slain. The Lamb of God was slain, slain, slain. Will you pick Jesus? Or will you pick the crowds? World, the world, oh, world. Will you pick them or Him? Like Leo will you pick the crowds instead of the one that loves you? I hope not! Pick Jesus!

Stargirl Song by Rebekah Walton

(tune: Ode to a Superhero by Weird Al)(Link to Ode to a Superhero by Weird Al)
words by Rebekah Walton
Verse 1: Stargirl was homeschooled tenth grader, who gave presents to Leo. She didn't even now him then. She started to go to highschool and play her guitar in the lunchroom.
Chorus: La..La...diddaa...lala..did da..diddum..
Stargirl was the Star of us all. She was so nice and kind and fine. We should follow her.She gave cards to the unknown, and cheered for both teams. She was the star of us all.
Verse 2: No one liked her we never knew why. She loved them all though they were mean to her.She sang happy birthday to them all. But she still was hated by those now the best. They tried to exclude her from everything but it turns out they couldn't suceed.
Chorus
Verse 3: Leo told her to be popular who he wouldn't like her back. Susan, the cheeleader, she became but it didn't last very long. Susan was indeed a different girl, she only cared aout herself, but as I said it didn't last very long. When she felt sorry for the team that lost she could handle it any more. She left that game.
Chorus
Verse 4:Two days later, Stargirl showed up again. She asked Leo to choose between her and the world. He got some advice from an old man, and then decided on his own. He said he rather choose the world then a knd caring girl. So, Stargirl lost Leo and moved away from there. And although he never chose her she kept sending him gifts. They never saw each other again.

(Read Stargirl to find out exactly what happened.)

Stargirl Rated by Rebekah Walton

I rated it with an A+. Those who have read the book listen to what I think was the point of the story before you decide if I am right or not. There's a girl named Stargirl(actually, her birthname is Susan.)and she is homeschooled till she is in tenth grade. Leo is the main guy who likes her until she turns to be not popular. Though it is sad he chooses being popular over her I think it has a good point. Most of the people in this world care about being popular and fitting(or in other words choosing the world) in instead of choosing what is right(or in other words choosing Jesus). We should not make the same mistake.

The Mysterious Red Tape Gang Rated by Rebekah Walton

I rated it with an A+. It’s funny, and really is for all ages. When Linda Jean blackmails a gang of boys so she can join it really starts the adventure of the Gang. While they worked secretly to fix things that should be fixed, several people see them, but don’t know who or what they saw. They make up things and things get weirder when those people bump into Linda Jean. But after all what fun is it to have a gang when you don’t have fun all the time. When they save Linda Jean’s father from much time in jail, their mysterious adventure ends with a few fun acts. But eventhough Linda Jean moves away to live somewhere else, you know they will come and visit soon. I recommend this book to all audiences.

Fairest rated by Rebekah Walton

I rated it with a C-.The story starts when a young baby is left at an inn in the country of Amonta. Amonta is a country where it is very important to be able to sing well. This young girl is named Aza and is taken care of by the family that runs the inn. Aza has always thought of herself as ugly so when a gnome comes to in the inn she asks him if she will ever be pretty. The gnome who can see into the future declares all humans ugly but her less ugly than all the rest. But he does say that later she will turn into what humans think is pretty. Aza learns a cool singing trick called illusing, which is similar to ventriloquists. A few years later, the King of Amonta was getting married to a commoner from another country and a duchess who stayed several times at Aza’s family’s inn is going to go to the wedding. But on the way to the wedding her maidservant grows sick and so she takes Aza along with her to be her maid. Aza meets the royal family and although she is not a lady the prince after having learned her name calls her ‘‘Lady Aza’’. Instead of correcting him she pretends she is a lady. The Queen learns that Aza can illuse and when the King grows sick appoints Aza as her maidservant and forces Aza to illuse for her. Aza does so but unwillingly. Soon though Aza accidently slips up and the secret that Aza is singing for the Queen instead of the queen singing herself gets out. Sir Uellu the Choirmaster of Queen Ivy suspects that Aza has been blackmailing the Queen, and so for this she should be put in prison. Although this is not true Aza can not prove that the Queen is blackmailing her. Before they put Aza in jail, Aza drinks a bottle of beauty that makes her beautiful. Sir Uellu put Aza in prison but Aza escapes. Although she is nearly eaten by orges she escapes underground to the land of gnomes where she meets the gnome that came to their inn and told her she once would become pretty. Aza stays there but the Queen goes after her and disguises herself as a gnome. She offers Aza an apple and although Aza has never liked apples she bits into it. Aza’s spirit appears in the mirror of Queen Ivy which is not just a normal mirror because a spider lives in the mirror. The spider is really evil and wants to ruin the kingdom. So, she cracks the mirror she is in. After cracking the mirror she immediately goes back into her body and wakes up. Then she travels to the castle and saves the kingdom by convincing the queen that she is beautiful and the king still loves her. The king gets better and makes Aza who has married the Prince Queen and the Prince King. Then the old king and Queen Ivy move away. Aza and her husband rule the kingdom well.I was somewhat satisfied with this ending to the story but I wished we found out more about Aza’s real parents, and although it had a good point I was overall disappointed with the story. The author however, did succeed in making the Snow White story with a twist and was able to show it does not matter what you look like on the outside the story. Even though I was disappointed with the ending,

The Soul of Prince Caspian rated by Rebekah Walton

I rated it with an A-.The Soul of Prince Caspian by Gene Veith is an information book about the truths lying behind in the story of Prince Caspian by C. S. Lewis. The book deals with the issues addressed in Prince Caspian and apply them to our own world. The Soul of Prince Caspian captured my innermost thoughts with its explanation of how we should apply Prince Caspian to our own lives with its humorous stories, facts and truths.
The humorous stories that Gene Veith used were helpful and intriguing. One of my favorite of the humorous stories is a story about how everyone in Lewis’ day thought The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe would not sell. All the important critics of the day thought they were horrible stories about ‘‘unnaturally pleasant children’’ and also disliked them due to the fact they were fairy tales for children with Christian truths in them. (Especially since in that day and age fairy tales were thought to be unfit stories for children because they did not help children relate and understand real life.)But even though the critic didn’t like them the children loved the book and wanted to read more.
The facts in this book are the information concerning the things that happen in Prince Caspian. One the big factor that is covered a lot in The Soul of Prince Caspian is the number of years that passed in Narnia since the last four royal monarchs were there. This plays into the Soul of Prince Caspian by telling us that our world hasn’t really progressed from 1,288 years ago. Although, maybe we have a lot of computers and technology our world hasn’t really progressed in a real way. We live in a world that doesn’t care about God and wants to cover even the evidence of Him. This is very much like what happened in Prince Caspian, the Telamarines took over and tried to cover up all the remaining evidence of lions and Narnians.
The truths which Veith mentioned were the underlining truths in Prince Caspian. C. S. Lewis wrote about freedom in Prince Caspian that could only be obtained when you followed Aslan. All those who followed Aslan obtained this freedom while others continued in their ways not knowing they were captive by their own wrong doings. C. S. Lewis also wrote about how the Narnians first planned to do but then decided that in order for justice to be done my must really fight the culture of their land with a headlong battle. This battle would defeat the culture and cause the government to run as it should again. Vieth says that we in our own world need to fight the culture by following God’s will in our life and taking the job in our own culture as God wants us to.
Gene Veith’s work is an intriguing book of it’s own that makes one think, with its humorous stories, facts and truths. These main things and many more will cause The Soul of Prince Caspian to be a beloved information book even in years to come. I recommend you read this book.

Anne of Green Gables rated by Rebekah Walton

I rated with an A. The guy should not have died. But it was overall good. It was funny at times. Like Pippi Longstocking. They should meet in a book. Someone should write that. Anyway, the story begins with Mrs. Rachel Lynde, Avonlea's gossip, seeing Matthew Cuthbert driving to town in his Sunday best. Matthew is ashy, quiet man of 60 and never does such things. Naturally, Mrs. Lynde, itching with curiosity, runs to Green Gables, the home of Matthew andhis sister, Marilla Cuthbert. She is shocked to find out they areadopting an orphan boy. Uptight and fidgety, she makes her way home.Meanwhile, Matthew arrives at the train station to find a tall, slender, freckled girl with dramatically red hair waiting for him. She introducesherself as "Anne, with an 'e,' Shirley." Unable to tell hershe is not the boy he and Marilla expected, he takes her home with him.The ride home is radiant. Anne talks her head off, and Matthew, thelistening type, enjoys himself immensely and takes a liking to thebright eleven-year-old.She is so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer Hill secrets book2 rated by Rebekah Walton

I rated it with a B+. Merry helps the Amish find the real culprit who burnt down the Zook’s barn. Because the police have convicted an innocent victim. But the real culprit is shown in the pictures taken by the victim. I t was pretty well, done, I guessed the ending. Just so you know Beverly Lewis is no longer one of my favorite authors.

Summer Hill secrets book1 rated by Rebekah Walton

I rated it with a B+. Merry the main character helps Lisa her friend, by sending her to be Amish for the time being. When cover is blown by Old Hawk Eye next door, Lisa tells all to the police. They help her out. I think she could have stayed longer under cover as Amish. But it was pretty good after all.

HOW TO EAT FRIED worms rated by Rebekah Walton

the book. It is way better than the movie. I rated it with a B+. There are few things it could change. But they aren't really large. It could have more funny bets throught the book. But that's about it. Billy in the book makes a bet with his friends. The bet is that he can eat 15 worms in 15 days. 1 for each day. If he wins he gets 50 dollars. They cheat like the movie but more. His mom and dad both know about the bet on the 5th day. His dad is funny saying that the whole family should eat worms instead of hamburgers. His mom is worried the whole time, that the worms will kill him. She says this is his last bet. He has a sister instead of a brother. He gets help from his friend Pete against his other two friends to win the bet. He wins the bet and he likes eating worms for lunch now.READ THE BOOK DON'T WATCH THE MOVIE.

From Mother ........................With Love rated by rebekah walton

Come on! This story was bizarre. I rated it with a C-. Because, they did not tell the mom, that she would die in three months. That makes it go down three grades. I can think of a true story about a baseball player. I hate baseball uniforms, but that's not why that story would have had a C-. The wife would not tell her husband that he would die and no one else told him either. They think he died without knowing. I think that people should be told because, they can then say goodbye to friends and family and do something they have always wanted to do.

Outerspace and all that Junk rated by Rebekah Walton

I rate it with a A+. It is sorta strange, but pretty good over all. It talks about aliens, and stuff but I don't mind. It talks about a boy named Myron and his Uncle Hugo. For people who have not read it I will only tell briefly about it. Myron thinks his Uncle Hugo is wierd, but his uncle is the only one that's right at the end. For those who have read it leave Coments. Read this book! Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli
Edited by Joan Slattery
Graded by Rebekah Walton
I graded it with a A+. Those who have read the book listin to what I think point of the story is. Before you diecede if I am right or wrong. There's this girl named Stargirl, (Well, her real name is Susan), and she is homeschooled till 10th grade. This kid Leo likes her until she turns not popular.Though it's sad with him chosing the world(the crowd) in the end, I think it has a good point: This is the point Most of the people in this world chose the world(the crowd) instead of the one that loves them (Jesus). We should not make the wrong decision as them. I recommend this book. Your Grader,
Rebekah Walton

Undercover By Hilda Stahl and how I grade it
I read the book, and I would grade this book B-. Why? Simple. There is too many things that would never happen in real life. Like, for an instant, No one I know or want to know or will know or ever heard of ever tricked herself to think she likes this guy Dale. I could never do it or want to do it, so how could any one else? Plus, Amber is supposedly the main character and there's one or two chapters about her.I wouldn't know who is the main character but my sister who had liked the book, (I hate it.) told me who was the main character. The book is cofusing (which is a down grade) and because you really don't know who the main character is that's another down grade, There were several other problems and so don't read this book.
How would you grade it? your grader, Rebekah Walton
Horrible plot and story!
